20 Ways to Motivate Yourself

Staying motivated is key to your success... whether we're talking about your workouts, your work life, or frankly just being motivated to get out of bed in the morning.

The ever-changing weather these days make it easy to make excuses or put things off. But let's face it... the longer you avoid completing tasks... the more unnecessary stress it can add to your days.

Having a solid morning routine that you stick to daily can help start your day off in the right direction, beginning with simply making your bed and putting on something other than the pajamas you wore to bed. Even if you don't plan to leave the house, or you're now working from home, it still puts you into a different mindset to put on a different outfit.

And better yet... if you're putting on your active wear... you're more likely to follow though with your workout!

Here are some easy, yet effective ways to motivate yourself:

  1. Make a to-do list.

  2. Have a reward system, so you'll have something to look forward to.

  3. Get the hard stuff done first thing in the morning.

  4. Set a deadline for a task to spur you to get it done before the time is up.

  5. Play energizing music.

  6. Write down where you see yourself in 5 years, and stick that note in a visible place.

  7. Dress to impress yourself.

  8. Encourage others, and you'll automatically start seeing encouragement from them in return.

  9. Listen to motivational stories from audio books, TED Talks and documentaries.

  10. Do a quick workout, even walking around the office for a 5-minute break can help.

  11. Close your eyes and visualize yourself reaching your goals.

  12. Take a walk outside and let nature reset your mind.

  13. Wake yourself up from your slump with a cold shower.

  14. Get a friend to join you to make whatever you're doing more enjoyable. (Ahem... they'd probably LOVE to join you for a class at Bloom.)

  15. Clean up your home or your workspace, and you'll feel like you can get more done in a de-cluttered environment.

  16. Share your goals with others for accountability.

  17. Find out what it takes to get you there and write down the first steps.

  18. Keep track of your progress with a journal.

  19. Bring light into your room.

  20. Drop the projects that you might not be totally committed to and focus on the ones you're really passionate about.
