Let's HIIT it, Bloomsquad...



You've likely seen the acronym, but do you know what it means to do a HIIT style workout?


HIIT means high intensity interval training... which is a cardiovascular exercise strategy alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods. In other words... you'll give all-out, 100% effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods.


This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up, burns more fat in less time, with workouts usually completed in 30-minutes or less. And since HIIT workouts typically only require your own body weight... no equipment is necessary and you can do this workout at home or while you're away with travel!


On the Bloom schedule, we offer Tabata, which is a HIIT style workout, and even a HIIT Cycle class.


Some benefits of HIIT may include burning a lot of calories in a short amount of time... a higher metabolic rate for hours after exercise... it can help you lose fat & gain muscle... and it can improve oxygen consumption.




Here's an example of a HIIT workout to try and even save for future use. The options of a HIIT style workout are endless though, so this is just one of MANY options!



Perform each exercise at 100% effort, with 30 seconds of rest in between each set:


  • 50 sit ups

  • 40 jump squats

  • 30 pushups

  • 20 split jumps

  • 10 tricep dips

  • 30 seconds of burpees
